Service to the Perdido Bay community is our primary goal. The Kiwanis Club of Big Lagoon strives to fulfill the Kiwanis vision: "Of changing the world, one child and one community at a time." Through the active participation of our members, we help to educate our children, support our community, and establish ourselves as the premier service organization in the Perdido Bay Community. Here on our web site, you will discover how we work to accomplish this mission and why, in Kiwanis, our motto is, "We Build!"
Since 1984, when we were chartered, we've performed numerous Perdido Bay community service projects: helped to build and to maintain Perdido Bay Kid's Park, sponsor the "Reading Is Fun Program" in local elementary schools, support the "Reading to Dogs Program" at the Escambia County S.W. Regional Library, we sponsor the Builders Club at Jim Bailey Middle School, K-Kids Club at Blue Angels Elementary and Myrtle Grove Elementary School, and are one of the Co-sponsors of The Aktion Club for challenged youth. We fund each year a full Scholarship through "The Excellence in Education" program for a deserving Jim Bailey Middle School student for the past fifteen years. Over 3,000 advance reader books have been donated to the school libraries of five local elementary schools. we sponsor several youth sports programs in the Perdido Area. The Kiwanis Club of Big Lagoon is a loyal supporter of the American Cancer Society "Relay for Life," The Society of Vincent DePaul " Annual Walk for the Poor," and the Wreaths Across American program to educate and honor our veterans buried in Barrancas National Cemetery.
